Big Day for BCFC

Wow! What a big day, and week, it has been for the Friends of the Co-op! We had so much fun meeting new and interesting people at the first Urban Harvest of the season. We hope to be there every other Thursday, so look for our table to meet co-op ambassadors, get your questions answered and fill out a membership form.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our second ambassador training session tonight. We love hearing your questions and suggestions! There are so many opportunities for the co-op to grow, and we’re excited to see the community willing to join together to make this happen.

But today was exciting for another reason: we passed 50 members!

Thanks to everyone who has already decided to become a founding member-owner of the co-op. And if you haven’t already, head over to our Become a Member page to find the form.

Be sure to look for us this Saturday at GO! Market!

Ambassador Training #2

The co-op will host their second ambassador training session this Thursday, July 11, at 6:30pm in Meeting Room A of the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library.

Join us for a brief presentation and for an opportunity to meet others interested in helping us spread the word about the co-op. This is perfect for those who have wanted to help out but aren't sure how. Highlights will include how to host a house party, FAQ's, and a short Q&A. We can't do this without you! Help us put the 'community' in BisMan Community Food Co-op!

Please let us know in advance if you will be bringing your children. We will provide on-site activities for them.

Join the event on Facebook. We hope to see you there!

Be Magazine Publishes Q&A with Co-op

Imagine a place where people are working together for better food, stronger communities, and a healthier world.

Be Magazine's Renita Brannan recently sat down with steering committee member Carmen Hoffner to talk about the BisMan Community Food Co-op. Check it out on page 54 of the latest issue.

Learning About Soil Health

Gabe Brown is always very helpful with our projects and educating the community!

Brown's Ranch taught us:

Ambassador Training

Thanks to everyone who came out last night! It was great meeting all of you and we look forward to getting to know you better in the future. We are developing an Ambassador packets for anyone interested in hosting a house party over the next few months. This will include information on membership, our timeline, and answers to all the other burning questions people may have about the co-op. We want to support you as volunteers and make sure you have all the information you need.

For photos of the event, check out Friends of the Co-op on Facebook!

Food - Family - Wellness

Join us for a Food Co-op Sponsored Public Forum!! We will be viewing a couple inspiring videos. Our guest speakers include Renita Rhone Brannan: personal trainer, life coach, and nutrition coach. Also, Dr. Travis Livesay: chirpractor and local/organic food enthusiast. They both have incredible passion for healthy food. We will also have an update on The Food Co-op followed by Q&A. Kids are always welcome!

Food Day 2012

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to support the co-op and hear what our wonderful panelists had to say! We collected two big boxes of food for the Ruth Meiers House and had thoughtful discussions about the changing landscape of food. I think its safe to say we all walked away feeling more inspired.

Thanks to Go! Bismarck Mandan for partnering with us for this event and for all the producers that came out to share their perspectives. We had a nice turnout of people, great music by James McMahon, and lots of delicious homemade goodies made by the steering committee. We may have to start posting recipes on the website after all the requests last night :)

So many good people leading the charge!
